The ring setup was to fault here. The bales marking the boundary of the lyst (which didn't even seem to be serving any real purpose) were way too close to the barrier, and the horse just tripped over the at full speed.

Also, he should not have been permitted to finish the show. Not without a good check for concussion anyway.
